Amy DuBois, RN, BCPA, has lived and nursed in Tucson since 1996. She founded RN Patient Advocate of Tucson, LLC here in 2013, and Tucson is where the majority of her clients live, are hospitalized, and see their specialists.

Tucson has the deepest concentration of medical care in Southern Arizona — the region's major hospital systems, the academic medical center, and most of the specialists that patients in surrounding towns drive in to see. That depth is a genuine advantage. It is also why care here fragments so easily: a patient with several conditions can end up with a cardiologist in one system, a nephrologist in another, a primary care physician in a third, and no one holding the whole picture.

That gap is the work. Amy assembles previous medical records into a single medical summary every physician on the case can use, reviews medications for interactions across prescribers, and attends appointments so the right questions get asked and the plan is genuinely understood before you leave the room. When a hospitalization happens, she informs the hospital-based team of the health, medication and treatment history they would otherwise reconstruct under pressure, follows the stay, and works the transition home — the window where most avoidable readmissions begin.

Because Amy has nursed in this city for nearly thirty years, including years spent in home health, case management and as a hospital liaison, she knows how Tucson's systems actually behave: how referrals move, where records get stuck, and who to ask when something has stalled.
